Another fantastic Devon County Show!

Another fantastic Devon County Show!

After constructive feedback from last year’s show, we listened and developed our own range of ‘Blackdown Buildings Shepherds Huts’.

We chose to launch this new range at this years show displaying two of the three styles that we currently offer. The three being named after the three major rivers in the Blackdown Hills – the Culm, the Otter and the Yarty (below respectively). The Culm was situated on our own stand with the Yarty being situated on the Mole Valley Farmers stand, they being the main sponsors of this years Devon County Show.

Interest in the two huts on display was phenomenal with practically non-stop queues of people waiting to view. Both huts, although very well insulated, were fitted with log burners (for display purposes only but available as an optional extra). The Culm was fitted with a Windy Smithy log burner and the Yarty was fitted with a Woodwarm log burner. When lit, they certainly created a cosy atmosphere.

The Yarty is different to the Culm and the Otter in as much as it has a set of hardwood double doors to the side of the hut as well as hardwood windows.

The Culm and the Otter are very similar to each other, the only difference between them being the position of the end wall with entrance door. The Culm has this positioned slightly set back allowing for a small porch area whereas the Otter, not exhibited at the show, does not have a porch but has the wall with entrance door brought forward so that it is flush with the edge of the hut thus giving more internal space.

Both the Culm and Otter come with one UPVC door and one UPVC window as standard.

Note: If you took a flyer from us at the show you may have seen that the specifications show that the Otter does not come with a window but can be added as an optional extra, this is an error. As with the Culm, the Otter is supplied with one window.

It is also worth mentioning that our ‘Show Offer’ prices are only valid up to the 1st September so be quick and save in excess of £1,000 by ordering before this date.

Apart from the Shepherds Huts, great interest was shown in our timber garages as well as our barns and field shelters. Many people said that they will visit us at our site in Hemyock (where we have these and other products on display) so that they can see them for themselves first hand.

People could appreciate the quality of our products, not only through the well built shepherds huts, but also through the other items that we had on show. The Poultry House we had was of interest not only to adults as a chicken shed, but also to children as a playhouse with many children enjoying hiding in it and other who liked just sitting on the perch, flapping their arms and clucking! Possibly a new project for us?

Our picnic table @ £118.00 + VAT was an impressive addition to our stand. It is a solid, quality, well made piece of garden furniture. People were amazed at the price. For what it is and for what is out there in the market, they thought that we would be considerably more expensive.

With such positive responses to our products, we are very much looking forward to our next show which will be The Royal Cornwall Show – 6th – 8th June.
